Chapter 1
"But why?" I asked Stacie as she held her hand in mine. Stacie shook her head, "Jesse, you're just not the same person any more. I need someone who I know I can love forever."
I sat back and slipped my hand out of her's, "This is just because my music carrer isn't like it was?"
Stacie leaned forward and tried to take my hand again, but I refused. She simply sighed and leaned back, "Face it Jesse, you're not the same."
"No", I said as I began to stand up, "my music carrer is not the same. I might not be on every magazine cover and yeah my carrer is slowing down a little bit, but I am still the same guy I was when we first met. I just..." I stopped and shook my head, "I just can't believe you even pretended to love me because I was famous."
Stace sat there in her chair, her strawberry blond curls over her shoulders and her deep green eyes wet with tears. I had met Stacie back in high school. She was a cheerleader and I was just a simple student. I had found a record deal a few years earlier and instantly shot up on the charts and was pretty soon popular at school. By my senior year I was very well known and needless to say alot of girl pretended to like me. But I had always liked Stacie, just like every other high school boy.
Stacie was captain the cheer squad and to every other guy, worshiped as a goddess. She was beautiful and sweet and funny and didn't care about popular or anything, until now.
Yes I had to admit now wasn't like it was back then. I had slipped off the charts and I wasn't coming out with anything new yet, but working on it. And here I was in the now. Stacie, my high school crush was breaking up with me because I wasn't like I use to be.
Stacie stood up and smiled, "I never used you, Jesse..."
"Don't lie to me", I said as I crossed my arms over my chest, "you've hurt me more already than you'll ever know."
Stacie looked down at her shoes, "Well, we don't have to..."
"Just do us both a favor" ,I said as she looked up at me, "leave before you hurt the both of us."
Stacie's face turned red and she walked off. I watched where I stood as the girl of my dreams walked out of my life and carried the shattered peices of my heart with her. I slumped back in my seat and sighed, "I really did think she was different, James."
James leaned back from his chair, "How did you know it was me?"
I chuckled, "You never leave me alone. You're my driver and my bodyguard, it's your job to never leave me alone."
James stood up and looked at me, "Forget her, Jesse. She never did anything for you. She only waited for you to come to her with gifts. There are more fish in the sea, and if I may say so myself, some of those girls are like sharks. They'll take the first bite they can get."
As soon as he said that a group of girls came running up to me, "It's Jesse McCartney! Get him!"
I jumped from my seat and looked at James, "Meet me in the back alley with the car."
"I'm on it", James said as he hurried through the sea of girls and out the front door of the resturant. I looked left and right and head for the kitchen, trying to escape the screams. I busted in to see waitors carrying out drinks and food and chef's making food burst into flames on a stove and yell at me, "What are you doing in here? Out!"
I looked around frantically, "Yeah."
I ran past the counter and dodged a tray being hosted over my head and dove through a cart that was starting to be wheeled out and rolled on the messy tile floor. Once on my feet I heard the kitchen door swing open, "There he is!"
I ran out the back of the kitchen and turned to go down the alley. There was James right outside and motioning me to come quick. I sprinted through the alley, jumping over garbage cans and homeless people. I saw the back door to the black Chevy open up and I dove in and slammed the door shut behind me just in time for James to pull out and a crowd of screaming girls chasing after the car. I panted and laughed, "I'd have to admit that that was the best escape route ever."
"I would agree", I heard someone say next to me. I was so busy getting away from the girls I didn't know that someone was sitting next to me. I jumped and looked at them, "Who are you?"
She had long red hair and stunning brown eyes. The woman smiled at me and tilted her head back so I could see that she was indeed a beautiful woman, "I am Jenna."
Jenna had a very heavy french accent. I breathed in and out as I spoke, "And what do I owe this pleasure?"
well there it is... comments? :)
